Located on Amelia Island, the Fernandina Beach Historic District is located at the head of the rail line. Because of this and its natural harbor on the Amelia River, it launched an economy based on shipping, fishing, forestry, and tourism in the late 19th century.
Many of the popular architectural styles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries are represented in residential "Old" Towne Fernandina.
Once you visit the Charming area, with it's quaint Shoppes, scenic Marina, and fine Restaurants;
you'll probably want to make this your home.
Today, a few lucky home-shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase one of the available renovated "period" homes, or for those with "vision", you can opt for a "handy-man" special. This charming area, which is still unknown by many, hasn't of yet come close to realizing it's potential value. I'd advise anyone interested, to buy now while prices are still reasonable.
